We have tried twiceCan't give any stars, this place is not open.
    Still under renovation.  :(
No sign tell when it will be opening

Well finally!!!! Open for business and very very busy for Dim Sum in fact the place was packed!!
We went Saturday morning about 11 am.
We ordered oriental broccoli, rice crepe, turnip cake, sticky rice in lotus leaf, sesame balls with red bean paste inside, and a shrimp and pork dumplings, chicken feet,  of course green tea.
The service was great, in fact was fantastic considering how busy everyone was.  The food came in parts which gave us enough time to eat and digest before the next dish came out.
Now a heads up, they don't set the table with forks knives and spoons, but my favourite CHOP STICKS!!!! I'm sure if you ask they would bring you some, we never did.
Good thing I grew up with a lot of Asian friends that taught me this caucasian,  how to use them and hit my hand if I stabbed the food with them for easy pick up. LOL  My friend was watching me after I told her I was going to stab my food. LOL  (never did) she did teach me well.
Every thing we order came out piping hot and so so good.  We will be coming back!!

    Parking is tight and limited

I don't normally rate bad reviews if I only had one bad experience with one restaurant, but I've been there at least 5 times, and the overall experience was not that pleasant. The guy looks like the manager, he always seems very busy running around, but he never gets his things done. So I don't know what he's busy for.
One time we ordered chicken wings, on my first bit I saw blood inside, talked to him and he said he will take this dish away and not charge us. But on the bill we got charged for the wings, so I have to talk to the server to take this price out.
Also, we asked him to bring us something(like napkins, spoons), he would never bring and never check on us, even on the not busy days.
Today we went again since last time was few months ago, and hope their service would change. No luck today. After we paying the bill, we asked for one box to take out. This male manager again, he said ok, and we waited for 5 minutes he never came back. I had to go to the front desk, and asked him to give me the box, he said ok again. This time I told him don't bring to my table just give it to me. He was just keeping looking at the computer, and told another server in Cantonese to bring the box to our table. I feel he's very rude, since I'm standing beside him already, he can just grab a box and give to me. But he chose to use another language to another server tell her to bring the box to our table. So I have to run after the server to let her know that I'm here just give the box to me.
After so many attempts, I have to say goodbye to this restaurant. We chose to go because it's a new Chinese restaurant in south. But the food was just ok and the service was terrible. I'd rather go to Ginger beef just across the road. Their food is good and service is way better!

I've driven past M Palace a couple of times now, so I jumped at the chance to eat there when my mom chose it for her birthday dinner.

First impression is how clean and white the restaurant is. Bright with high ceilings, they've removed all traces of the family chain restaurant it used to be.

Service was efficient and friendly the entire time we were there. Mind you, it was a Tuesday night and there were only a few tables occupied. That being said, the staff went above and beyond to make sure that we had a fabulous meal and were never left wanting anything.

Now the food...WOW! The four of us got the $88 dinner special:

    1) complimentary kabocha squash broth with beans and dried mussels (sounds gross/tastes great!)
    2) bbq pork and duck platter (so well marinated and tasty with a nice crispy skin on the duck)
    3) pork soup dumplings (my dad said they were better than the famous Din Tai Fung, which I can't vouch for, but wow these were fantastic)
    4) fried beancurd with asparagus (I'm not a tofu lover but this was a great dish!)
    5) sweet and sour pork that came in a half pineapple (my fave and this totally impressed with a nice light batter and perfect sauce!)
    6) pork belly and preserved vegetables (the perfect compliment to a bowl of white rice)
    7) charcoal custard buns filed with a warm sweet and eggy liquid (our server said that they were actually black sesame, but I couldn't taste that...still good!)
    8) complimentary peanut dessert soup (too full at this point to enjoy it, but I'm sure it was tasty)

    Bottom line?

    9/10 service
    9/10 food
    8/10 ambiance, decor and cleanliness

Most definitely our new favourite Chinese restaurant based on this meal! We can't wait to go back!

First off: Food Quality 4 Stars
The Fact that this is Calgary!! : Extra Star!

We are all accustomed to having very good quality and high standard Chinese Restaurants in Vancouver, BC, but for the past 2 to 3 years, Calgary, AB is fast catching up!!

I was chatting with the Manager at M Palace, and found out that he too moved here from Vancouver along with a few Chefs!!

No wonder the dim sum here is at this high level of standard!!

    Highlight:

    1) Shrimp Dumplings ( Har Gaw ): Very very well made and their smaller size really pays homage to the "REAL" Har Gaw" in the old days, as these are supposed to be a one mouthful items ( similar to sushi, you are supposed to eat it in one bite ). The Shrimp Dumplings are very juicy, which is uncommon nowadays, as they are made smaller on purpose, they give you 5 instead of 4 bigger ones.

    2) Steamed Pork Ribs with Black Bean Sauce: this is too common a dish, and yet if made properly, it can be a very very special item when you go to have dim sum!  The pieces are all cut to small bites, and the seasoning is perfectly balanced! There are no tough parts and very very few fatty parts. So when you order Pork Ribs, remember this is a simple dish but very hard to make perfect!

    3) Steamed Pork & Mushroom Dumplings ( Siu Mai ): One of the most popular items for dim sum, here the Chef made the classic version with the balance of meat, shrimp and mushroom all blended together in perfect harmony, too many places nowadays made this dumpling with too much shrimp or too much pork, also, the Chef hand chopped the pork so to give the dumpling the proper texture!

The rest of the dim sums we had were all done very very well, ( even compared to Hong Kong standard ). One did fall to compare is the Chicken Talon in Black Bean Sauce, in my opinion, it lacks the savoury nature of the dish and is left to be pretty blend.

I am happy for local Calgarians to have more and more choices of Chinese Restaurants opening and also the standards are getting higher with each new one!!

We went here for dinner, and the general impression was good. Mostly white and vaulted ceiling with some exposed vented ducts for added height and character. This establishment can be dined 2 ways (cafe side or restaurant side), and I've only been to the restaurant side.

The waiter was friendly, fast, and was able to answer our questions regarding their menu. The free soup that came with was a nice touch as it reminded me of a Philippine pork stew dish. We ordered Fish fillet (Basa fish) with asparagus, Tobiko fried rice,  mapo doufu, and spicy chicken pot. All of the dishes were good, but I've had better taste with mapo doufu (not spicy), perhaps it's their style. The Tobiko fried rice wasn't as tasty as I would hope. The rest of the dishes were great, no complaints.

Overall, I would come back again to try new dishes, the cafe side and their dim sum. I also tried their hot brown sugar milk tea with grass jelly and it was good, but I prefer a tiny less sweet. That's just my preference, but for the average customer; it is fine.
